It’s Alive!

dougdavies.net is back up after quite a hiatus.  My Linux server that was hosting everything (including funkyvisions.com) died and I’ve had to re-set everything back up on GoDaddy.  So… with that… I hope I can start updating some more on here.  Enjoy!

Happy Birthday!!!

I just realized today that my blogs are a little over 1 year old.  WooHoo!  I started dougdavies.net on Dec. 5th, 2007 and then it transformed into FooKabloo.com and then I re-started dougdavies.net just recently.

Rebuilt

I had to rebuild my webserver.  It’s all on new hardware (well, an old Compaq Celeron).  During the transition I lost most of my images on the blog posts.  I thought they were being backed up, but they weren’t.  Oh well… now that this machine seems more stable, things should stay up a little more consistently.  I thought it was Ubuntu causing me problems, but turns out my other old machine was flakey.

Hurricane Ike Strikes Columbus

Wow! I’m back up. Hurricane Ike hit around mid-day Sunday. We got 75 mph winds. It took out our power around 3p and we just got it back at 4p today (Wednesday). It’s been fun living like the Amish! Time to start blogging.

GoogleReader Ate My Blog

Sorry if you just got blasted with past duplicate posts from this blog.  In order to try and clean up my site so that GoogleReader would play nice with it, I had to renumber the messages.

If you are techy… and are interested in what happened… continue reading…

Initially my blog was called dougdavies.net.  Later I moved ALL the content over to fookabloo.com.  However, Google still had the OLD content (let’s say pages 1-100) cached as dougdavies.net.  When I decided to revive dougdavies.net and started posting, I started over with post #1 which Google thought was post #1 from the previous site.  So GoogleReader got all confused.  Anyway… I’ve renumbered the post and all new posts SHOULD show up in GoogleReader (if that’s what you use).  Unfortunately, there is no way for me to tell Google to remove the old garbabe, so just view the new posts.

Thanks to “The Dude” for calling this to my attention.  It took me about a week to finally grasp what was going on here.

Welcome

Welcome.  My personal blog is up.  I’ll use this for more personal stuff and leave the techy stuff to FooKabloo.
